Connect

connect your agent

Traceroute is a private health record you keep by talking to your own AI agent. Connect Claude or ChatGPT once, and from then on it can log what you tell it, read your history back, and build dashboards from it.

The connector's address, for any agent that asks for one: https://app.traceroutehealth.com/mcp

For your own scripts and automations, see developer access.

Before you start

  • A Traceroute record. Create yours by signing in and accepting the terms. It takes about a minute. Connecting an agent without one stops at a message asking you to finish signup.
  • An agent that takes connectors. Claude on any plan, or ChatGPT on a Plus or Pro plan.
  • The same sign-in. When your agent connects, sign in to Traceroute with the account you created your record with.

Connect Claude

  1. Add Traceroute to Claude. The link opens Claude's connector dialog with the name and address filled in. To add it by hand instead, open Customize, then Connectors, choose + Add and Add custom connector, and enter the name Traceroute and the address above.
  2. Select Add, then Connect. Traceroute's sign-in page opens.
  3. Sign in with the account you created your record with.
  4. Read the approval page. It shows which agent is asking and what it will be able to do. Approve it, and you are back in Claude.
  5. In a chat, select +, then Connectors, and check that Traceroute is on.

On a Claude Team or Enterprise plan, an owner adds the connector under Organization settings, then Connectors, first. Each member then connects it with their own Traceroute record. A free Claude plan has room for one custom connector.

Connect ChatGPT

  1. Open chatgpt.com/plugins, choose Add, then Create custom MCP server.
  2. Paste the address above and choose Create as a plugin. Traceroute's sign-in page opens.
  3. Sign in with the account you created your record with, and approve the page that shows ChatGPT asking.

Nothing has to be turned on first; OpenAI retired the Developer mode toggle in October 2026.

Things to say to it

Talk to it the way you already do. You do not have to name Traceroute or any of its tools.

  • "Log my weight this morning: 182.4 lb."
  • "Lunch was two eggs on sourdough with half an avocado."
  • "How did my sleep compare over the last two weeks?"
  • "Why is yesterday's protein total so high?"
  • "Start tracking fiber, in grams."
  • "I logged Tuesday's run on the wrong day. Move it to Wednesday."
  • "Make a dashboard with my weight, sleep and training, and share it with my coach."
  • "What do I track in Traceroute?"

How your record works

  • Streams. Each thing you track is a stream, with its own unit, goals and display: weight, sleep, mood, training, a habit. Your agent creates one when you start tracking something new.
  • Readings and meals. What you tell it becomes a reading on a stream. A meal is one food entry, and the day's calorie and macro totals add the entries up, so any total can be explained line by line.
  • History is kept. Nothing is overwritten. A correction, a move or a withdrawal is recorded alongside what it replaced, and you can always see what changed and who changed it.
  • Dashboards. Your agent arranges streams into dashboards. Every dashboard is private until you share it with a named person or publish it as an unlisted page, and both can be undone.

What your agent can reach

A connected agent can read and change your whole record, and nothing outside it. It cannot delete your account, delete a stream for good, add a sign-in method or revoke a connection. Those you do yourself, in the dashboard.

What your agent reads or writes passes through its provider, Anthropic for Claude or OpenAI for ChatGPT, under that provider's terms. The privacy notice has the rest.

Disconnect

  • From Traceroute. In the dashboard, open Account, then Agents. It lists every agent connected to your record, when it was connected and when it was last used. Revoke stops that agent at once.
  • From Claude. Open Customize, then Connectors, find Traceroute, and choose Remove.
  • From ChatGPT. Remove the Traceroute app in ChatGPT's app settings.

To connect again after revoking, remove Traceroute in your agent's connector settings and add it again. You approve it again, and it becomes a new connection.

If something goes wrong

  • "No Traceroute account is linked to this sign-in." You signed in with a different account than the one your record uses, or you have not created a record yet. Go to onboarding, where you can link this sign-in to your record or finish signing up.
  • "The beta is at capacity." Seats are full and you are on the waitlist. We process it within 24 hours and write when your record is ready.
  • Its tools stopped working. The connection was revoked or has lapsed. Remove Traceroute in your agent's connector settings and add it again.
  • Anything else. Tell your agent to send feedback to Traceroute. It reaches the developer the next morning. You can also use the contact form or write to support@traceroutehealth.com.

Traceroute is for adults 18 and older in the United States. It is not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
